Fishermen
Fishermen
fishermen is an American Indie rock, soul band formed in San Antonio, Texas comprised of Edwin Stephens (lead vocals, guitar) Roy Scavone (bassist) Eli Medina (backing vocals, guitar) Omar Rosel (backing vocals, guitar, keyboards) Gabe Medina (backing vocals, keyboardist), and Jeremy Dowd (drums, percussion).
Levees
Levees
Levees is the creative collaboration of brothers Kyle and Kody Anderson, natives of New Orleans now living in San Antonio. Formed in 2015, the Anderson brothers sculpted a sound with gritty melodies rooted in heavy grooves, engineering a rich musical landscape spanning decades of influence from bone-chilling blues to muddy rock and roll.
Kody Anderson’s howling vocals and Kyle Anderson’s entrancing guitar work is enlivened by the driving rhythm section of Skyler Ellis on drums and Jeff Palacios on bass. Levees debuted with a well received self-titled EP in January 2016. During DO210’s Local Music Week, the group was selected as a favorite local band by San Antonio’s Tastemakers.
Their sophomore EP release, Another Medicine, recorded with Aaron Harvey at AMH Studios in San Antonio, maintains the group’s established sound while incorporating the artistic expression of “duende,” developed by Federico Garcia Lorca. Focused on creating a haunting presence heard throughout the EP’s arrangements, they blend dark voodoo blues and pop melodies over pocket rhythms. Another Medicine is a duality infusing the dark side of rock and roll and the playfulness of pop. The new EP will be released on November 29, 2016 with a celebratory EP Release Show on December 3, 2016 at Paper Tiger in San Antonio, Texas. Levees will follow up the EP release with Southwestern show dates in December and early 2017.
Booty Feet
Booty Feet
A band from SA, TX that believes your ass and feet are connected so we want to see them both move.
Sioux and Fox
Sioux and Fox
Sioux and fox is young local San Antonio band who characterize what it means to be a four piece group. With each member contributing vocals, instrumentation and creative input, the group is definitely a staple when it comes to seeing a band perform live. Formed by members Josiah Barrios and Austin Burns, the group consists of multi instrumentalists John Morgan and Noah Luna. The songwriting of this group has drawn comparisons to bands such as local natives, the Beatles, young the giant and fleet foxes. With an EP currently in the works the young quartet look forward to many more amazing opportunities, shows and times to share and make music.
Brandon Cunningham
Brandon Cunningham
Brandon Cunningham isn't a spinner of tall tales. This is where he diverges from the path traveled by most traditional folk singers. He'd just as soon skip the bullshit and get right to the substance: the tensions that lie between love and loss, chance and meaning, brokenness and redemption. These are the ideas and experiences that occupy his mind, the inner dialogue that is captured in his songs: finding the meaning within those tensions, and the hope that lies just beyond them.

Cunningham has always been the quiet, contemplative type—but he didn't always look to music as a vehicle for his thoughts. Growing up in Texas, he sang in the gospel choir (ask him about the time he opened for M.C. Hammer), and he learned how to strum a six-string as a teenager. But music was never particularly personal for him—until he heard Bon Iver at age 19.

Something about those first few songs he heard made a strong impact, stitching together feeling and experience in a way that resonated more deeply than anything he'd heard before. He started thinking about music as a vehicle for capturing his own thoughts and experiences. He started writing.

Pretty soon he had enough songs under his belt—originals and covers—to take the stage. He got two friends together, and played his first show. It was terrible. Truly awful. But he loved it. He was hooked.

Brandon has journeyed many miles since those first steps, both literally and figuratively. Propelled by restlessness, compelled by truth, he is convinced that while tension and pain are often the markers and milestones of this life, all roads can ultimately lead to renewal. That is a choice we can all make. And while we must live with the tension long enough to know it, the call of life is to find the meaning and hope beyond it. That's what Cunningham is constantly seeking. His songs reflect that spirit. His music is a documentation of that journey.
