The group is fronted by brothers Taylor Powell (lead vocals) and Blake Powell (lead guitar). The Powell Brothers are currently promoting their latest single, “Coming Home,” a love letter to their hometown of Houston that addresses life on the road and missing home. The single is the first in a long line of new music to come, as the band is set to release their first full-length album in the Fall of 2018.
When asked about the band’s explosive growth and what the future holds, Taylor Powell explained “It all boils down to this; good songs and good people. We are committed to the craft of songwriting. Our goal is to make every song and album better than the last, and to surround ourselves with the best people.” Blake Powell echoes his brother’s thoughts and adds, “As we grow, we want to make sure we deliver music and performances worthy of the love and support we are so blessed to receive."
Taylor and Blake have a strong passion for performing live, a fact reflected by the brothers’ busy tour schedule. The group has shared the stage with numerous top national and regional acts, including Josh Turner, Gary Allan, Granger Smith, Pat Green, The Bellamy Brothers, Randy Rogers Band, Cody Johnson, Gary P. Nunn, Kevin Fowler and many more. In their home state of Texas, The Powell Brothers perform regularly at legendary live music venues including Gruene Hall, John T. Floore’s Country Store, The Rustic, Luckenbach, Texas, Brewster Street Ice House, House of Blues Houston, Magnolia Motor Lounge, The Blue Light Live, and Goode Company Armadillo Palace to name a few.
The Powell Brothers love sports, but their rigorous tour schedule does not afford them much time to go to a game. Then it dawned on them; "Why don't we just perform at the games we want to go to?" The group did just that. In 2017, The Powell Brothers sang for the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park, San Diego Padres at Petco Park, and Texas Rangers and Globelife Park. The band also partnered with the Las Vegas Bowl, owned and operated by ESPN Events, for performances at the Las Vegas Bowl Pep Rally (Fremont Street Experience Stage) and Las Vegas Bowl game (Sam Boyd Stadium). Other sporting events included the Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio and State Fair of Texas (Chevy Main Stage) after the Texas vs. Oklahoma “Red River Rivalry” game.
The Powell Brothers will not slow down in 2018. The group is set to tour extensively in support of their new full length album, including a summer tour across the Western U.S. with stops in New Mexico, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and California. Highlights include performances at the Oregon Jamboree in Sweet Home, Oregon, Oyster Ridge Music Festival in Kemmerer, Wyoming, and Yakima Summer Nights Concert Series with Shane Smith & The Saints in Yakima, Washington. Back home in Texas, it doesn’t get in bigger than the rodeo circuit, and this year you can find The Powell Brothers at four of Texas’ largest rodeos in (1) Rodeo Houston; (2) Rodeo Austin; (3) San Antonio Rodeo; and (4) the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show & Rodeo.
